Delft Florins —
fun for everyone.

What started as an idea is soon becoming reality: the Delft Florin. A tangible voucher, by and for Delft entrepreneurs.

Why florins

Appealing, practical and local.

Three reasons why the florin works — for the giver, the recipient and the whole city.

Appealing

Notes you can hold in your hands. They feel real. You can spend them at great places in Delft — or receive them as a gift from an employer with a heart for the city.

Practical

No digital hassle. No accounts. Something personal that you can simply spend — and that the receiving entrepreneur can just as easily exchange for euros.

Local

Carried by everyone in Delft: entrepreneurs, institutions and platforms. By buying locally together, we strengthen social ties and build a lively city.
The idea

From gift to local circulation.

This is how a florin moves through the city — in seven clear steps.

1
Purchase

Organizations buy notes as gifts for their employees.

2
Spend

Spend them at all participating local entrepreneurs in the city.

3
Redeem

Entrepreneurs exchange them for euros through a separate guarantee account.

4
Validity

Available to buy for three years, then redeemable for another two years.

5
Circulation

Used notes are destroyed and removed from circulation.

6
Verification

A QR-code system checks validity in one scan.

7
Back to Delft

Any remaining balance after five years flows back into the local economy.

History · Creativity · Innovation

The values of Delft, on your florin.

Delft is a city of history, creativity and innovation. As Delfinitely, we stand for a strong, sustainable and social local economy. We bring all these values to life together on the florin: each note has its own theme.

William of Orange

1533 – 1584 · Father of the Fatherland

As leader of the Dutch Revolt, he laid the foundations of an independent Netherlands and made Delft his base. From the Prinsenhof he directed the struggle against Spain, until he was assassinated there. His tomb in the Nieuwe Kerk made Delft the resting place of the House of Orange-Nassau — anchoring the nation's history in the city itself.
